Just got back from Caye Caulker with the San Pedro Lions Club. We participated in a benefit for a 16 yr old girl, who will soon be flown to Tampa, Florida, to undergo Heart surgury. A very nice young girl by the name of Kathy Balam, who resides in Caye Caulker. She told me that she has a hole in her heart and that she gets tired after very little exertion. A check referred to Kathy Balam, to the San Pedro Lions Club, PO Box 8, San Pedro Town A.C., Belize, Central America will be most welcomed and forwarded to Kathy's cause.

Bill, My office is right outside Tampa in the Clearwater area if I can help her from down here let me know.

The father and the girl did not remember the name of the hospital. Most the hospital expenses have been contributed...and I believe the airfare has been contributed by American Airlines. I gather that lots of ancilliary expenses will have to be paid for by the father. A nice article was in this past weeks issue of the San Pedro Sun, which can be accessed by this wonderful website...under BelizeNews.com.

St Josephs Childrens Hospital specializes in pediatric cardiology. I can tell you from personal experience that the hospital is top notch, the staff are highly qualified and ever so caring. The Ronald McDonald house was amazing. We paid $10 US per night and had a daily chore to do. The house is right next door to the Tampa General Hospital.

Our thoughts and prayers shall be with young Kathy.
