Man o'War rivals Secretariat for that distinction.

If you must choose between two evils, pick the one you've never tried before.

Couldn't say for sure...inconclusive data. Horse racing has been around since about 4500BC and the Kentucky derby started in 1875. So that is about 6375 years of horse races that are unaccounted for vs 129 years of "modern" American racing. wink

i knew a horse by the name of Capital Moon....feared by all who raced against him, loved by those who hung a bridle on him...this horses' history is really astounding....he raced around the bush tracks of oklahoma, winning races from 440 yards to a mile....had numerous owners, basically traded from month to month, depending on who needed money or booze...

i think i'm starting to well up....

Growing up in Saratoga I got to spend a lot of time back in the stables.

The race horse is an amazing creature.

In recorded history, Secretariat, Man -o- War and of course Seabiscuit. All incredible athletes.

Ever been to the horse races in Burrel Boom and Santa Elena, Belize?

In my book unquestionably Secretariat. I was at the Derby when he won it, and during the following years I had several chances to be very close to him. I might be mistaken but I believe that most of his track records still stand. That was the biggest damn horse that I've ever seen. Huge. Fastest, too.

When they did the postmortum after his death they discovered that his heart was more than 50% largesr than the average first-line thoroughbred. Explained a great deal.

I'm 56 years young and Secretariat is the greatest horse I've ever seen. He had the biggest chest of any horse I've seen. I believe that's why he was able to run away from everybody going down the stretch. The other horses were getting tired, Secretariat was just getting warmed up.

I would love to see the horse races in Burrel Boom and Santa Elena. One of the board members has seen a part of them, she will pop in if she is reading this.

I recollect doing my Ironing (ugh) and watching Secretariate win that race. My first viewing of such a short but wonderfully exhilerating sport ahhhhhh.....'twas sweet smile
