In January, we are spending a few nights at the Log Can-Inn, the one night in Tikal. After that, we go directly to Ambergris Caye. What is the best way to go from Tikal to Ambergris Caye? We will spend the day in Tikal, the one night, the next morning, after sunrise and breakfast; we will want to be on our way!! Can we fly directly or should we shuttle or bus it or what? Thanks!!

Tropic Air from Flores, Guatemala to San Pedro. Might be a brief stopover in Belize City.

You can fly to Belize International and from there to San Pedro. It's a beautiful flight.
There is a flight each morning and each afternoon.

Are you in for an adventure???

I just did the route you are planning. We made it, but just by the skin of our "you know what".

Our shuttle picked us up in the Tikal park (Jaguar Inn) at 9:30am (next time I would plan it for 7:30). Arrived at the Guat. border at 11:30, and the Belize immigrations was slow and hot. We missed the 11:00 Express Novelo (bus) at Benque and left Benque on the 1pm milkrun. Stopped every mile for seventy miles and arrived in Belize City at 3:45. Grabbed a taxi to the 4pm Thunderbold water taxi to AC. We made it.

Next time I would leave Tikal earlier and be on the Express from Benque. Much more relaxed.

Take the plane. My costs for 1adult/2child, tikal shuttle$80US, Novelo $12US, taxi $3US and Thunderbolt to AC $35US.

Jeff

We ended up taking a taxi to Flores, spent a few hours there and took a 2 pm flight to Belize City, then a 3 or 4 pm flight to AC. It was a beautiful flight and let us relax rather than sit on a bus or shuttle all day! It did cost a little more, but in retrospect, it was definitely worth it! (The bus trip from San Ignacio to Tikal was long and rough and not that much fun!)
