Is there storage for luggage or security lockers in the Belize (BZE) airport?

Or even anywhere nearby the airport where it would be safe to secure dive gear while doing some jungle adventure tours for a few days?

We would be returning to the airport before flying over to Ambergris Caye to do our diving and it is extremely inconvenient to drag the dive gear everywhere. Any suggestions?

The Marine Terminal in Belize City has storage lockers for rent. Its not near the airport, but the terminal stays open until 5:30 p.m. I have used them many times.

p.s. I reread your message and I'm assuming that you're leaving from the municipal airport. That's a $5 cab ride to the marine terminal.

my advise on this is whatever hotel you're stopping at, ask if it's OK to send your bags over to them.

I usually have my guests who do inland first before coming to the cayes send their dive bags to me.

Silkpainter & Djean,

Thanks...both are reasonable approaches.

Djean, how do I send the bags? On Maya or Tropic Air and let my resort know to pick them up & hold them for me a few days before my check-in?

Whatver hotel you're staying at, ask them if it's Ok to send the bags and then they will tell you what airline to send it on.

Just out of curiosity, where will you be staying in AC?

We will be at Seven Seas Resort. We stayed there last year and very much enjoyed the pool after diving and the quiet on that part of town.

I did contact the staff at Seven Seas and they did say we could send it to them early. Need to work out the details of that with them via email.

Thanks again.

The Embassy Hotel located about 100 yards from the BZE airport will hold your bags for you for $1/day per bag.

We're doing the same thing in April because we don't want to take our dive gear to Tikal.

You may do an internet search of Embassy Hotel and Belize City. If I remember correctly, their website actually mentions space rental.

We also left our bags at the Embassy Hotel. They were very nice and you can walk across the street when you land at BZE! Very easy!

Thanks so much for that Embassy Hotel suggestion. It is very practical and a real timesaver for us to avoid hauling the dive gear into the jungle.
