My wife and I want to trip to Caulker for a few days in Early june 2004 and have heard conflicting stories about the BUGS!

Of course we will be applying DEET 30% but I have heard the sand flies are pretty bad. What can we expect?

How about sleeping at night?

Thanks!

You can expect that if there are no tradewinds coming from the east or northeast, you will be bitten, especially around sunrise and sunset. If there is the slightest breeze, they are blown away. Deet might work for mosquitos, but slathering on (think shiny skin) baby oil keeps sand fleas from biting.
