Any suggestions as to were I should stay for 1 or 2 days in order to get a feel for the area and see about looking into an investment lot?

Thanks,

Dan

It depends of course on your budget.

Here are my picks for the best hotels/resorts in several price ranges. I've been visiting Placencia for 12 or 13 years and have written a half dozen books on Belize.

Top End:
Turtle Inn
Inn at Robert's Grove

Middle:
Kitty's
Mariposa
Luba Hati (high middle)

Low Middle:
Barnacle Bill's

Budget:
Tradewinds
Lydia's
Manatee Inn

Maya Breeze Inn.

Take a look at the website then imagine the cabanas much larger than what is shown. We were totally happy. Not one complaint.

It's not immediately in the village and that is a good thing as far as we were concerned. Lot's of good information and friendly hosts. Most important.

"Mangos" is right there for food and beverages and a nice local owned spot called "The Hungry Gecko" with a grocery directy under it, is two lots south.
We didn't regret one moment there smile

I like Lydia's. You would get a better feel for regular life in the area if you go and buy food to cook a meal or two in the kitchenette there.

I'm not sure what's happening with Maya Breeze. It's been for sale for a while. The husband sends me one price to advertise it; the wife another. Who knows?

I know it's for sale, most of the resort owners want to sell, but as for the price, I didn't bother asking. We weren't interested.

It's next door to the Green Parrot, it too is for sale, again.

No mention of Blue Crab here - is there something funky about them? They look nice and seem friendly in communications... Please give me the scoop if there is one!
