Real nice village scene, about 40 mins. from the Intl airport. On a huge lagoon known for great birding, including the jabiru stork. A few nice guest houses, Sam's Hotel and Bird Eye Videw overlooking the lagoon. Draws Belize people and you'll have roasted cashews, stewed cashews, cashshew wine, etc. Make sure you book a lagoon boat tour. The full day trips take you to the back creeks where you'll see howler and spider monkeys.

I've heard that cashew wine is very strong, after a few glasses you will be seeing triple. I have wondered what it would taste like. This sounds like a fun time.

Thanks Katie - I had a feeling it is not a huge affair, primarily drawing the local population for a social weekend.

DB - cashew wine is interesting. Picked up some in Costa Rica. Not something you I could really get into in a big way, but good for a novelty. Did not taste like Planters, for sure! smile

I went to the festival a few years back. It was hoot! If you are in the area during it, I highly recommend going out of your way to attend.

KT - I need to get some Crooked Tree hotel contact info from you. Didn't you get my email of a few days ago? I will re send, but if you see this first email me. Thanks

Are cashews easy to find on Ambergris Caye?

Well, now I'm really in trouble. I figured since we're going to be in Belize in June, I'd miss the cashew festival and be safe. Now you tell me they will be selling them on the beach in AC. Not that I like cashews. Oh, no. Not me. I'll just eat them until I'm sick... So, between the Belikins and the cashews, I can probably count on gaining between 10 and 20 lbs. while I'm in Belize. Where do you buy those Sarongs? I'm going to need one, I think. Oh, well, what the heck, I'll be on vacation, right? wink Sharon
