We've always travelled to Abaco, Bahamas and love it but are thinking of checking out some place new. Have been reading about Ambergris Caye and think it sounds wonderful. someone from the Abaco Message Board mentioned Ramon Village for a place to stay. What do you all think? Any other suggestions? Thanks

Depends on what you're looking for. What are the "musts"? What do you want to avoid?

The musts are peace and relaxation, good food, friendly people. I want to avoid crowded resort-style places. Laid-back, casual suits us well.

Well, welcome to AC!! Can't go wrong with that attitude! Ramon's is very popular. I'm sure you'll be happy if you choose that place. It's close to all in town, but just away from the town noice, close to cool bars such as BC's & Crazy Canucks. You will love AC!

But, Cathy, there are so many to choose from! Don't go with the first one you hear about ~~ I think there are better choices....

I agree with Wendy! I really like Ramon's, however, it can be pretty noisy between the street noise and it's proximity to the airstrip.

Try the Exotic Caye Beach resort at www.belizeisfun.com Nice location, Crazy Canucks beach bar on site, Monkey Bites,which is a small restaurant is on site. I hang my bathing suit there each time and love it. Enjoy!

I'm open to all suggestions. Small and relatively quiet is good. Are most the hotels south of town near the airport noise?

Hello, I am staying at the Playa Blanca Beach Resort. I have never been to Belize before and am looking forward to my arrival in August. What is the night life like? I would be more then in my realm going on a jungle tour and scuba diving. Did we make a good choice with this hotel?
