My wife and I are starting out our Belize vacation, with a few days at Caves Branch, this coming weekend. For some reason the e-mail correspondence ahs been a bit one sided as their replies to my inquiries are bouncing back. I understand they use starband and once in awhile certain domains have trouble receiving e-mails from that network.

I have spoken with them a few times over the phone and instead of pestering them again I thought I would ask this question here. They have no electricity in the cabanas but do they have any electricity on site. Kerosene lanterns and torches sounds very rustic and romantic but my digital camera prefers ac/dc current to charge its batteries.

Thanks in advance. 

As I recall, the cabanas, jungles suites, etc. have limited electricity from a generator -- they do have ceiling fans, which definitely come in handy this time of year. The office (not the guest quarters) even has air-conditioning. You should be able to get your batteries recharged.

They have a generator, but bring a surge protector as the juice is uneven and can harm your electronic gear. Same current as in US.

We did 4 nights at Caves branch, and it was a highlight of our Belize trip.

The rooms have a ceiling fan, but no power outlets.

Up at the kitchen and eating area, they have tons of outlets powering christmas lights and other devices. During meal time, they had no problems with us recharging digital cameras batteries.

I'd pass on their River Caves tubing adventures, unless paddling up stream into the current while sitting on a inner-tube sounds fun, but I highly recommend the Waterfall Caving tour. My wife and I did it no problems, and they make it sound more intense than it is........but don't get me wrong, climbing a 20 foot high waterfall with water pouring over you isn't a walk in the park either.

Try the River Caves trip in June if you want intense! Rivers can rise as much as 20 feet during the day when the rains start!

I just got back from Caves Branch. It's truly a beautiful place. My husband and I had a great time. I highly recommend the Black Hole Drop and the Waterfalls Cave tours...both were awesome.

As for electricity...there are no outlets in any of the guest cabanas, rms, suites, etc... As was mentioned, they do have electricity at the main lodge/dining hall. Just ask Oscar to hook you up if you need an outlet to plug your camera into. smile
