I was bit by what appears to be a brown recluse spider 13 days ago. I treated it initially as a Doctor fly bite. I now have a lesion that has been cleared of poison by physician 1 1/2" wide 2" deep in my left knee. Excrutiating pain and severe cellulitis in left leg.
Would like to know if any other cases have been reported in Ambergris Caye.

My sister was bitten about 6 months ago.... not in AC. Make sure you do complete follow-up as that's a serious thing.
Good luck......

I just spoke with Dennis Wolfe to refresh my memory...he was bitten by a brown recluse some time ago. After much suffering he went to Dr. Otto who knew exactly what to do...prescribed a powder with a spanish name that is "boron" in English...worked well and quickly healed the wound. Go see Dr. Otto!

Becomes necrotic. I didn't have much luck with meds and added a poltise of jackass bitters, mano de aligato en espanol and thats when it started healing. Bit in my sleep in Cayo, so not sure what species of spider exactly, but an entomologist suggested it was a br spider.

Yes, very necrotic. Dr. Daniel has treated like a staph (staphylococcus aureus bacteria) infection first by cutting out the infected area (necrotic area like jello), antibiotics and a penicillin shot every day - eleven total shots to date. Ouch!
No improvement for first ten days. Day 11 saw first signs and day 12 swelling decreased considerably. Feeling much better now.
Thanks for the input all...

I think in the US they also utilize hyperbaric treatments. Maybe check with Dr. Otto regarding this method too. We just so happen to conveniently have chamber on the island! Bring a book, its a long boring process.

you can use hyperbaric therapy but most insurance policys will not cover the expense, & it is quite costly.

Look into homeopathy too. Very effective.
