My prayers go out to our friends & neighbors in LA, MS, AL & GA. I personally have friends who's families have completely lost their homes in the New Orleans area, thankfully, not their lives. I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathy to everyone who is affected by this devastation and let them know that they will remain in our prayers. God Bless you all!

I too have friends in the area(especially Biloxi and Gulfport MS) and have taken several minutes of deep prayer for all in the region. Living in Florida and going thru 4 hurricanes last year , I still can't even imagine the horror and uncertainty of what is to come for all those people. Please keep them all in your prayers and thoughts--and their families that haven't been able to reach them to find out if they survived or not. And please donate to help out! They are gonna need all the help the world can send them!

I have family in New Orleans, I heard that all of their have homes that have been completely destroyed. Thankfully, they are all safe. Some fled to TX, and others to higher ground!

from an old timer in Belize City...

New Orleans is one of our oldest sister cities in more ways than one.
Historically Belizean smugglers used to take Chinese en route to the work on the transcontinental railroad through the Big Easy.
During prohibition Belizean rum runners helped to build two churches there and their names are still carved on pews.
Many Belizeans have familial ties in New Orleans, and in recent years the Belize City Council, the Belize Business Bureau and the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry have established formal alliances with that City.

As well as donating money, I thought I could also help by going into my basement to dig out old linens, towels, clothes and such that might be useful for the shelters. I'll get an address for the local Red Cross in the morning. I would assume that will be something that can help immediately. I am still waiting for more info from my family there.

The Red Cross only wants money, at this point. It's too difficult to get clothes or anything else in right now. They need to get the people out.

Here's the link to donate (you can do it by credit card): http://www.redcross.org

We need to do this as individuals.

And you're right, Jesse. I could just as easily have been you. And we'd have been there immediately.

It may happen yet, if this year's trend continues.
