When we were in San Pedro in July we adopted a puppy and brought her home with us. We got her shots, papers, a airplane ticket, a carrying case and took her right on the plane with us. She flew under the seats in front of us. No quarantine neccessary. She was about 8 weeks old and weighed 4.5 lbs. She now is now a healthy, happy 8 months old and 40 lbs. who loves to play with her two feline brothers.

The problem is we not sure what breed she is. Nor does the vet. We tell everyone she's 57 Hienz but she prefers Belizean.

Does anyone know what kind of mix breed she is? I've seen other dogs like her in San Pedro.

These are of Emily at 8 weeks old and 4.5 lbs.

She looks like she may have some Basenji in her.

Emily hit the "dog lotto"!

Just had to go upstairs and carry down a 10lb book, the Atlas of Dog Breeds of the world.

Laurie you get points for the match of Basenji.

ArtZ, does Emily bark much?

Rescue dogs are the best! You'll just have to explain her like we do our Cleo: put together by a committee. She's conveniently referred to as a Min Pin just because she sort of looks like one and that's the type rescue organization which plucked her from a shelter for "re-homing." laugh

Most definitely Purebred Belizean Pot-Licker, glad to see she's doing so well.

good question, chloe. could it be the barkless Mayan breed?

Had to forward the pics to my dad, a veternarian for 45 years. He says Yep, part Basenji.

Markings and ears are good clues.

Found in the Congo bush by British explorers.
The Englishmen called the breed, African Bush dogs.

Don't you just love talking about dogs.
