refer 3 posts up, last sentence.

Wondering if that fact would hurt or help...better to not mention or to address in my sponser letter.

Wouldn't be truthful for you KzK, but for me it was/is. Now, I'm thinking my pal and I should have pretended something *was* going on.

I wanted to make sure they didn't think it was a love connection because I was concerned that they'd think he'd not go home. As it turned out, even though he met all the criteria and more, they didn't let him in.

ok, gotcha. Figured you were refering to me after Bill said to say he was my boyfriend. I was thinking the same as you as far as a possible response if I tell them he is my bf. Which would be terrible for them to think since he would NOT want to stay in the US. 4 days will be plenty. Did you write your letter to the Embassy or to the applicant?

Memory is a bit dim, but I'm reasonably sure that I wrote two. One direct to him and one to them. I faxed them some stuff, for example, a copy of my passport.

Like I said, I don't know how it works with the US (heck I can barely figure out how it works here) but if they do allow the "sponsor" (you) to be the contact representative, I strongly recommend you go that route.

The other thing that I believe would have been helpful, was if we could have shown up at the Embassy in Guat City, to see them in person. (there's no Canadian Embassy in Belize)

yes, we have to show up in person at the US Embassy in Belize. In addition to my passport I have to submit my bank account info, properties owned, etc to show I can support the person in an emergency, etc...

thanks for your advice seashell. cross your fingers and toes.

You never have to remember the truth.

I would address one letter to the Embassy stating the purpose of the trip and one letter of invitation to the traveler.

SIN, thanks for this advice too. That's what I figured, so do NOT mention he is a bf. Of course unless asked as I would not lie to them.

SIN, being you are so knowledgable perhaps you can answer this. I am told and read online (posted 2003) that if you purchase land or property at a certain price you can apply for residency. This sounds too good to be true. Two people told me it is true and others said it used to be but not anymore. What do you know about this?

I've not heard of this option. It is a bit cheaper just to hire an expiditer.
