Fair or not, the way most people perceive bills to be charged are as follows with lowest to highest rate.

1.Little kids (0)
2. Born Belizeans
3. Naturalized Belizeans and other Caricom Citizens.
4. Legal residents of Belize
5. Illegal residents of Belize
6. Gringos residing full time in Belize
7. Tourist and short time resident Gringos

So, if you were wondering why a kid gets a free ideal (ice pop) and you have to pay 25 Cents or 50 cents for the exact same thing, now you have a guide.

Keep in mind most of the folks that complain are guests in this country, a nation that has been kind enough to actually allow some of us to attain citizenship, or residency status. No, the rates are not always fair.

And, I am thinking about sending my kids to college in the States, do you really want me to spell out the difference in rates charged to a non-US citizen when you want to pay for the priveledge of an eduation there????

Belize is a nation of friendly and inviting people.

The US cannot compare in those arenas.

Long live Belize!

Matter of fact I have travelled the US extensively.

I have had a wonderful time and made many, many good friends.

But my actual point was not as clear as it should have been.

If you are foreigner and you want to move to the US and live there and work there or go to school there - it is very, very tough. As in the US government is not inviting! The visa alone can take years to obtain and residency even longer.

Belize allows folks to visit with a visa issued at the border - a visa that can be automatically extended every 30 days. If you want to move down here with your family, have your kids attend school and your wife wants to get a job, with minimal application work - you can make this happen in Belize - easily and quickly.

Clover, so sorry you got the wrong end of the stick.

And when you get to know me, you'll see that I don't use the phrase imho.
