Coppola Adds Another Property
La Lancha is the newest offering among the Coppola resorts: it overlooks the beautiful, unspoiled Lake Peten Itza located in Guatemala near the region of Tikal, one of the great archeological marvels of the world. It is estimated that about 1 million people worked over 1,000 years to build the ancient Mayan city of Tikal. At least 3,000 palaces dating back 6,000 years have been discovered. Sample Guatemalan cuisine and enjoy cocktails at the maid lodge, with its soaring thatch roof and open views. Paths lead from the main lodge to La Lancha’s casitas, each brightly decorated, inspired by native art furnishings. The Rainforest Casitas have a view of the surrounding forest and partial view of the lake, while the Lakeview Casitas offer a breathtaking panorama of Lake Peten Itza.
Guests can enjoy a bi-level swimming pool and nearby a skyway walk through the canopy of the rainforest, which provides an ideal vantage point for bird watching and nature observation.
Traveling by road from Blancaneaux to La Lancha takes about 2 1/2 - 3 hours, including clearing customs and immigration at the Belize/Guatemalan border.
