Coppola Adds Another Property

La Lancha is the newest offering among the Coppola resorts: it overlooks the beautiful, unspoiled Lake Peten Itza located in Guatemala near the region of Tikal, one of the great archeological marvels of the world. It is estimated that about 1 million people worked over 1,000 years to build the ancient Mayan city of Tikal. At least 3,000 palaces dating back 6,000 years have been discovered. Sample Guatemalan cuisine and enjoy cocktails at the maid lodge, with its soaring thatch roof and open views. Paths lead from the main lodge to La Lancha's casitas, each brightly decorated, inspired by native art furnishings. The Rainforest Casitas have a view of the surrounding forest and partial view of the lake, while the Lakeview Casitas offer a breathtaking panorama of Lake Peten Itza.

Guests can enjoy a bi-level swimming pool and nearby a skyway walk through the canopy of the rainforest, which provides an ideal vantage point for bird watching and nature observation.

Traveling by road from Blancaneaux to La Lancha takes about 2 1/2 - 3 hours, including clearing customs and immigration at the Belize/Guatemalan border.

LL is lovely, books lots of very happy clients there. Tikal is amongst the most impressive sites in the Maya empire. Nearby Ceibal and Ya Sha sites are well worth visiting. Lagoon boat tour and Flores village also interesting. You can fly direct from Belize Intl to Flores and get a taste of Guatemala, which is a fascinating country. Then fly down to GC and drive 45 minutes to one of the wonderful cities of the world, Antigua, and spend the night at Casa Encantada, owned by the same company that manages Victoria House, or at any of dozens of great inns and hotels in the city.

That's Yaxha, not Ya Sha, Katie.

I hope the day never comes that this sort of travel is only open to clients who can afford your tours.

I wanted to post the same thing but held my tongue (fingers!) Comments like that are so unnecessary and make him look the fool.... Pleased to see Katie hasn't lowered herself to his level to respond.
