"According to Zagat findings, Texans dine out more often than Americans in any other state, with Houstonians leading the way; the Houston surveyors averaged four meals out per week, beating the national average by 30 percent.

Our favorite foods are Italian, Mexican and American, and when barbecue is on the menu, we prefer brisket to ribs or pulled pork."
This was in the Houston Chronicle today.

Definitely Malibu - no doubt!! But we don't have something called... are you ready for this???... get ready... and yes it exsists... I didn't make it up... TRI-TIP! What a really bad name for an interesting cut of meat! I had it last weekend - wasn't all that bad and certainly not like anything I had ever had. However, no brisket in CA... they're missing out!!

When Law comes back to TX the first thing I'm giving her - kolaches... you haven't lived until you try them!

Tri Tip is GREAT!!!!! I love it!!! We put great flavor stuff on it and put it on the smoker. Excellent stuff!!! You can always have them cut it for you at Kroger. They usually grind it up into ground meat. You just have to get there early in the morning before they make the ground meat. Also you can get it at Costco.

Kolaches -- Mr Malibu LOVES poppy seed kolaches! We used to order them from a lady in Schulenberg, she would come into town every so often and deliver them. Alas she changed the recipe and they don't taste the same. Now we get them when we go down 59.....at this place called Praseks Hillji Smokehouse. Heard of it? Their kolaches are not as good but still quite tasty. They also have this WONDERFUL smoked peppered pork loin. YUMMIE!!!

Too bad Texas can only steal cuisin from other cultures. With as arrogant as Texan's are, you would think they could come up with something original.

I don't remember where, but somewhere in Texas is a resturant that offers a 48oz. steak and if you eat it all the meal is free. Does anyone know where this place is.

only 48oz, a mere pittance?

I know of several plsces in other states that proffer a 6# - ya got 2 hours to eat it , along with all the side accoutrements and it's free.

Disgusting!

Very close to a mental institution, I suspect.
