Hey gang, I need some help! Where would one go to find some of the music that they add on the underwater videos?

If it's copyrighted (and most is), you must purchase it from the holder, or their designated agent. If you have a lot of $$, pay a musical scorer to write your own origianl piece. Quite expensive.

Well, don't have the $$ and I can't carry a tune in a bucket, so I guess I'll have to go for the 1920's silent film versions of underwater videos. Thanks!

I would think (I've seen a bunch of these also), that for personal, non-commercial use, you should be able to use anything you want. Right? Wrong?

If your video is personal use I would suggest. Sting the sound track from "The Living Sea" Or Sting-Dream of the Blue Turtles or Nothing like the Sun.
I read it on the internet so it must be true.

I do underwater video - non commercial - and have found a lot of very good music. What editing program are you using? I have Pinnacles Studio and there is a lot of music that comes with the program. I especially like the Caribbean stuff - it has the excitement that fits nicely with the scenes. Sonny & Cher's "It's a lovely day" also worked well as does Nat King Coles "Wonderful World." Barefoot Skinny gave me permission to use any of his stuff as long as I list it in the credits. You may be able to make the same deal with other locals. By raising and lowering the volume on the music and the underwater sounds you can add drama. I find that by letting the music trail off for about 10 seconds after the last image goes gives a nice effect. Good luck!

Definately personal. I'm just getting into this (just for my own usage) and have a LOT of reading and figuring out and lots and lots of trial and error! But that's what makes it fun! Thanks for all ya'lls imput! Scuba John, thanks! I love Sting. Scubaldy I think I'll need all the luck I can get!

For personal use, you will never get into trouble. Just don't offer in in a public venue, free or not, or if the wrong ppl find out, you're subject to royalties.
