Does anyone have experience on what is best airline to bring a dog from Houston or DFW to Belize City. Seems like some airlines have a reasonable cost $100 each way, whereas others are more expensive than it costs for a human to fly! Trying to leave by Sept 2, so any help would be appreciated. Dogs are labs and we will be staying around a month.

Change in plans. The pooches will have to stay home on this one. American has the best deal but will not let them fly if outside temp is over 85. Since flight leaves at around 1 pm from Dallas, temps will be well above that. Good idea Deac, will stop by SAGA and get info for next time.

I had my black Lab Flown down in May from miami. I was able to check him as a piece of luggage for no additional cost on American. Same restrictions though, wouldn't let him fly if outside temp was 85 or higher.

I know for a fact that 2 dogs flew American last week (BZE to DFW)with temps well over 85. Maybe special circumstances? Who knows with airlines.

They didn't have any fluids or cell phones with them thats why.

Maybe the dogs were handicap dogs....some people put those dogs on board but... I think they wear a handicapped vest...not positive
I know of one person that faked it!!!
AWFUL in my opinion to take advantage of a good option for those in real need.

May this year did you check him just as a piece of luggage? This is wonderful. When I brought Karmin it was several hundred dollars to check her. Also, what airline did it or only $100 each way?
