Hello, Does anyone know if Stuart still is working down at Ras Safari palapa bar at the south end of the island?? I would love to pass along a hello to him. We met him in April while staying at the Casa Redondo suite. I would also like to say hello to Chico, a construction worker whose busy building down on that end. . .it is in part because of their hospitality and the hospitality of other Caye folks that we long to visit again-
We were just down on the island a week ago and bicycled to the south end, and to our chagrin the Ras Safari bar was closed. Most likely for the slow season. Too bad as it is a great place to chill and enjoy a Belikin. Will be back in October and will try again.
If your talking about the hut and the end of the island ,sorry to say, think there was some serious medical problem and they had to go back to states?????to take care of her ,my prayers are out to them..
Jeff, That was the owners of the buildings down there. They've been renting out the bar to various individuals since their return to the US.
It's a quiet spot without much traffic so it's not suprising that it would be closed right now. The drive down to the south end is one of the most enjoyable parts of the island. Still very quiet and offering the opportunity to see some of the island's flora and fauna.
