I really love and respect when Belizeans, especially young Belizeans,
make a mark in the business community.

That said, i really think the guys from Cuboid Graphix deserve some
props and a big shout out.

But, i have a little, how should i say, constructive crticism. Do you
remember the saying, "Not because you can do it, you should do it."

Ok, the sites you guys create are really cool, no doubt, but you guys
should really try simplicity, that is, you create pretty much all your
sites using Flash, and boy oh boy, flash wreaks havoc on most people's
browser (because there browsers are out-dated), I have one of the best
laptops money could buy, the newest versions of all browers (IE,
Firefox) and high speed DSL connection, and your sites take forever to
load, and i am always asked (when i finally get in the site) to load
some plug-in.

Guys trust me, 9.5 out of 10 people will click away from the site. Look
at the websites of big companies throughout the world, they make little
or no use of Flash, and most of their sites are text base (really,
really friendly with Google, Ask, Yahoo...). Oh, i have clicked on from your portfolio page and it is still loading
the music and motion etc... its loaded now (after almost 10 minutes -
not exaggerating) and none of the buttons work, the javascript is all
screwed up, i have to point all over the page to find the hotspot for
the nav. buttons.

Guys, on the internet 'cool' means diddly squat now, history is
repeating itself, people want things/information and they want it as
fast as possible, believe me, almost no one would wait for any of your
sites to load, and i know, i checked your hit counter and the hits are
low on your sites - ok, now the buttons work - weird.

I really do hope you know that i am just trying to help, i don't mean to
be blunt but i wouldn't want people saying, "look at these dumb
Belizeans, thinking that cramming as much java, flash, anim. gif etc...
on a website to make it cool will help make you a profit." Acutally, the
site will hurt your bottom line.

Remember Flash is absolutely cool, but that is about it, most people
aren't that computer literate and they won't even bother to try and load
a plug-in. I sit behind a computer 27 hours a day, and i ****ing hate
loading plug-ins and Flash doesn't do anything for me but **** me off
from getting to a site i really want to.

Get rid of that Flash crap and your sites will be search engine-friendly
and you will have much happier customers and will probably get more in
the process.

You should take your own advice: "A successful website depends on so
much more than merely aesthetics..."

Right on! I agree 110%. If I want to be entertained with long running animations and sound effects, I'll turn on the TV. When I'm looking for info on the net, I don't want to wait half hour to download a homepage, watch silly shapes and words fly onto the screen, then sort through the junk to find what I'm looking for! But it is definately not just Belizean sites.

Probably 15 years ago I was paid by a research company, that was under contract by microsoft, to evaluate MS webpages that were saturated with flash. My criticism was that it took way to long to load and that if I wanted the information I would go some place else where I could get it quicker. Notice MS uses little to no flash... just because of what I told them... and probably a few hundred other people.

You also can't deep link anymore....
Tried to send a link to an article in Ambergris Today to some people a while ago; this obviously doesn't work - you can't select the text either, so I ended up sending 2 PrintScreen images.

Well guys, I do respect and appreciate your constructive criticism, and I do know how flash causes havoc on a webpage. As a young company starting up, there is much to be learnt and one of our first lessons was the flash lesson. But what can I really say about our flash... we have it there not because we're "flash" happy, we have it there on the request of our clients. I do realize that javascript, flash and plugins are a passing fad... but in belize, everything is cool when it moves. That said, I realize that we're new to this game, and we learn as we go. We do have the creativity, and we are learning to embrace the W3C webstandards. So with that said... our client sites.. stands as is unless they change their minds on their tastes.. but as from now, we've taken into consideration everything we've learnt and consult with our clients before going all out. I do agree with marty about simplicity and functionality in a website.
In response to the that site isn't created by us, that's a template monster flash template. We merely modified it for the client because they couldn't find anybody experienced enough. And I must admit, the site was never fully finished... so, I apologize for that.
With that in mind, our flash company site has served it's purpose, so now we've recently redesigned out site with all considerations on good web design standards. And yes, we left out the flash. smile Check it out... The site isn't quite finished yet.. so if you go to you will still find our flash website.

Thanks again for your comments, and looking at the dates, it's been a while since anybody posted here, but please know that we've came a long way since then.
