Our son, who lives in Vancouver, is going to be flying out of Seattle to join us for a week in San Pedro.
His return flight doesn't get in until 10:30pm and I don't want him driving for 3 1/2 hours to get home after such a long day of travel. Does anyone know of an inexpensive hotel/motel fairly close to the airport and with a decent reputation where he could sleep for a few hours before hitting the road?
A great option would be 'retro' park and fly, if that kind of thing is available in Seattle. He is flying to Houston on the red eye so he wouldn't need the accommodation until his return.

Atleast on his return he wouldn't have to worry about the border lines at Blaine... ...I assume he plans on parking @ SeaTac? On the return, if it's a weekday, he might be wise to find something just north of Seattle so as not to deal with the AM traffic.

Here is a list of what people have recently paid by Pricelining some hotels there. The amounts will be roughly 50% of rates shown on Travelocity, Orbitz, Expedia, and the likes. I have not broken out those that are downtown:

Hon, you're looking for a hotel in SEA, correct? What are the flight times for the return?? Perhaps he can stand-by for an earlier flight from Houston - SEA...

sandb - thanks for suggesting that he stay north of the city for a quick escape in the morning...great idea.
TQ - Yep, hotel in SEA. The son has a 2 1/2 hour layover in Houston. We've been told that he'll likely need most of that time to pick up his luggage, get through the international security queue and recheck his bags.
I have hinted that he may want to bring carry on luggage only to make changing planes easier but, as a confirmed clothes junkie, he scoffs at me.

he's driving to seattle from Van??
my sis did the same thing but instead took a bus to seattle... i think it's around $50/60 round trip... would save him the hassle of driving... i think the bus ride is about 3.5 - 4 hrs... might be a better/cheaper alternative... just a thought though

ida_y_vuelta: There is no way that he would take the bus from Van to SEA. Totally out of character for him.
...and it wouldn't change his need to stay in Seattle on his return, anyway, since it's likely he'd have to wait 'til the next morning to catch the bus back to Van.

maybe but i remember looking into that and i'm sure there was a bus later but... just a suggestion anyway... the more options the better right!
i know there's a few hotels at that close to the airport... he'll find something suitable!
