TODAY’S WEATHER
Hot and hazy weather is affecting Yucatan, the North West Caribbean and Belize. Weak instability is developing.
Ambergris Caye, San Pedro and Caye Caulker will experience for the next 24 hrs:
Hazy and hot weather and partly cloudy skies today and tonight with the chance for early morning showers.
The highest temperature will be around 90 degrees F after midday. Today’s winds will be from the East to Southeast at 8 to 18 Kts.
The sea state will be slight to light chop. Seas will be 3 to 5 feet beyond the reef.
The outlook is for fair and hot weather through Sunday.

ALOFT... A BROAD SHORTWAVE RIDGE DOMINATES THE CARIBBEAN W OF 77W ORIGINATING FROM A TROPICAL ANTICYCLONE CENTERED OVER THE E PAC NEAR 8N98W.
THE UPPER LEVEL WLY FLOW TURNS CYCLONIC TO THE E OF 77W AND INTO AN UPPER TROUGH EXTENDING S INTO THE CARIBBEAN WITH ITS MEAN AXIS N OF 14N ALONG 72W.
UPPER LEVEL DEBRIS MOISTURE FROM AFTERNOON CONVECTION OVER GUATEMALA, BELIZE AND HONDURAS IS NOW SPREADING E OVER THE GULF OF HONDURAS.
AT THE LOW LEVELS ELY TRADES DOMINATE THE CARIBBEAN WITH THE GRADIENT STRONGEST S OF 13N AND OVER THE GULF OF HONDURAS. LATEST IMAGERY SUGGESTS A TROUGH IS DEVELOPING JUST NE OF THE GULF OF HONDURAS WITH CYCLONIC TURNING CENTERED ON 18N83W.
Central & Eastern Caribbean:
AN AREA OF OVERCAST LOW CLOUDS AND SCATTERED SHOWERS IS NOTED WITHIN 90 NM OF 16N80W. THE CONVECTION IN THIS AREA MAY BE ENHANCED LATER TODAY IF THE LOW LEVEL TROUGH CONTINUES TO DEVELOP.
OTHERWISE...LITTLE CHANGE EXPECTED NEXT FEW DAYS.
AN INCREASE IN TRADES S OF 20N OVER THE CARIBBEAN IS FAVORED. WINDS REMAIN ELY 20 KT S OF 18N.

The highest temperature will be around 90 degrees F after midday. Today’s winds will be from the East to Southeast at 5 to 15 Kts.

TO THE E OF THE TROUGH A BROAD RIDGE IS NOTED WITH DRY AIR SUPPRESSING CONVECTION. THE ATLANTIC RIDGE TO THE N IS MAINTAINING EASTERLY TRADES WITH THE GRADIENT STRONGEST S OF 15N BETWEEN 75W AND 65W.
Central & Eastern Caribbean:
CARIBHEAN WINDS REMAIN LIGHT TO MODERATE.

UPPER LEVEL SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW STARTS OUT IN THE EASTERN PACIFIC OCEAN AND CROSSES COSTA RICA AND PANAMA...AND ORIGINATES A BIT ALSO IN COLOMBIA...AND THEN JUST CROSSES THE CARIBBEAN WATERS.
ISOLATED MODERATE SHOWERS ARE SEEN NOW IN SOUTHEASTERN CUBA AND SOUTHERN HAITI. LOW CLOUDS...WITH POSSIBLE SHOWERS... MOVING AWAY FROM PUERTO RICO...OFF THE SOUTHWESTERN CORNER OF THE ISLAND.

The highest temperature will be around 90 degrees F after midday. Today’s winds will be from the East to East northeast at 10 to 15 Kts.
The sea state will be slight. Seas will be 1 to 3 feet beyond the reef.
The outlook is for mainly fair and hot weather through Saturday.
Current Weather: San Pedro Lagoon 0600 hrs Cloud 2/8 Cumulus Wind (direction & speed) East southeast 5Kts. Tide level 0.54 m Precipitation None
Western & Central Caribbean:
A LONG RIDGE STARTS OUT IN THE TROPICAL ATLANTIC WATERS NEAR 6N33W TO 8N46W 9N57W 14N76W TO 16N83W JUST EAST OF HONDURAS.
SOME OF THE ANTICYCLONIC FLOW WITH THIS RIDGE EVEN EXTENDS TO THE NORTH OF THE GREATER ANTILLES TO THE BAHAMAS AND INTO THE ATLANTIC OCEAN NEAR 24N70W.
MIDDLE TO UPPER LEVEL CLOUDS COVER THE CARIBBEAN WATERS WEST OF 70W.
Central & Eastern Caribbean:
A LONG RIDGE STARTS OUT IN THE TROPICAL ATLANTIC WATERS NEAR 6N33W TO 8N46W 9N57W 14N76W TO 16N83W JUST EAST OF HONDURAS.
NUMEROUS STRONG SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE ALONG THE EASTERN SHORES OF LAKE MARACAIBO IN NORTHWESTERN VENEZUELA.
SCATTERED MODERATE TO STRONG SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS COVER THE COASTAL AREAS OF COLOMBIA IN THE GULF OF URABA...PROBABLY RELATED TO THE ITCZ.
