Is there anyone on AC who uses a satellite connection for internet access?

Under the terms of BTL's deal with the government (at least until 2002), believe that would be illegal.

Well, that's interesting... Illegal to access a satellite? Odd. I *think* Globalstar (www.globalstar.com) offers it in Belize. But I'm way over my head here... Just trying to gather info. Thanks!

Globalstar's web site does not list Belize as one of their service areas, although Honduras and Guatemala are listed. This would seem to indicate that BTL will not allow it up to this time. BTL is a monopoly for the time being but we hope that this too will change shortly.

Thanks for that info, Jim. I am just on my diligent pursuit of finding a way that I can spend more time in Paradise and still make some $$... which requires internet access.

Cruise around San Pedro, and look at the roof tops, you'll see numerous systems. Sat. was ok'd for use after 2002-2003. If you have questions on what types of equipment are available, and want to know more about the service, you can reach me at our web site.

If they tell you it won't work over satellite, they didn't try hard enough!
