Hi All:

Just a quick question. I have been told that If I bring my movie videos with me they will deteriorate and get mold on them and possible then transfer to my VCR. Does this really happen.Or do I just make sure the VCR is always in an air conditioned area.
I hate to bring my DVD player.(was going to give it to the kids)
All my friends think the DVD is much better but I can't tell the difference.

You mean nobody uses VCRs in South Florida, which has a similar climate to Belize (and where Blockbuster Video was started)? <grin>

Seriously, videos, not to books, appliances, not to mention human livers, can be affected by salt water and the hot, humid climate, but lots of people I know who live in Belize have VCRs and big tape collections (and no A/C) and their tapes seem to play just fine. Guess they take some precautions with them, keep them boxed and stored, use a head cleaner frequently, etc.

Maybe some full-time San Pedro residents can give their experiences with VCRs.

VCR's hold up fine here on the island. I own one and so fa It has lasted two years. All I do is cover it when it is not in use and the videos I store in their boxes. The only way they will get moldy is if you keep them near a window where the moisture is high but other than that they wil be fine. Bring a couple head cleaner though that will help alot.

I too thought it was strange that they would get runied and so would the VCR.
Guess they left them out and they got damaged.
