I am currently working with Chris at Sailsports to get BEL to extend the power lines south to service our properties. We both purchased Holiday Lands lots just past the road to the dump. Is there anyone else south of us that is trying to work with BEL also? I am interested in talking to anyone to see what your experience has been and whether we can work together to try to get the electricity extended. - KB

Presently there is a large group working with BEL trying to get power down south. Hopefully the latest deadline to get construction started is May or June If they are not lying again. Try mailing Lynn Young at

Good luck. We have property just outside of the baboon sanctuary. The power lines run within a half mile of the buildings. We started over two years ago trying to get the power lines run. First it was going to cost us 18 thousand, then a year later 5 thousand. Now the price is down to several hundred but they tell us when we get to you on our list. Belizean time is a whole nother world. Not to discourage you but keep the faith, only money talks. Dave

Thanks for the info. I know things will work on "Belize time" and I don't expect this to be solved overnight, but if we work together we should have a better chance of success. Also, if it's going to be a matter of money - the more of us to chip in the better. Anyone who wants to EMail me directly on this subject, I'd love to hear from you - Here's to power for the south end in 2002!!! KB
