It is US$1000 a month if from a pension (including social security) or an annuity, and US$2000 if from investments where the return is not guaranteed and may vary.
Note:
1) Many people with US$2000+ in investment income could buy a short-term annuity with a little of that capital and qualify under the US$1000 a month rule.
2) The BTB wants retirees and Belize needs US$, so the BTB is flexible.
3) As a practical matter, retirees are telling me that they only have to deposit US$12000 a year in a Belize bank, even if they qualified under the investment angle.
