Ambergris Caye Chamber of Commerce is being created. Our initial goals are to create a base to be able to have an influence on solving our local issues. This will be done by size of membership, and getting qualified residents and concerned Belizeans to register to vote, and be able to get them to represent all of our business concerns as a group vote in local elections. As you may know, that is only recognized power on this island, and we must be able to have that "clout" to make a difference. We now have 83 members in the first 10 days, and 29 eligible voters that have pledged their votes. I have been very pleased with the response so far.
There are so many issues and things that are happening here that is destroying our attractiveness as a tourist destination, and the quality of life in general on Ambergris Caye. But we can influence what happens by prioritizing issues, and focusing on them one by one.
For any of you that would be interested in joining with us, please email me at [email protected]
We need the support of anyone that is a citizen, owns a house, condo, or property here, a resident, or just someone who loves this beautiful island and would like to play a part in it's development. We are also looking for any donations which would assist us with the expenses of setting up a full-time office.
