Our property was officially transferred to our names this year so it is the first time that we have been liable for property taxes. I understand that they are due in April, but that is really the extent of my knowledge. I would appreciate advice as to how we find out how much they are and how we go about paying. Thanks
We just stopped at the Scotia Bank in Dangriga and picked up our Land Tax Statement, this past week. The address and ph# are in Belmopan. Dept. of Lands and Surveys Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment Market Square, Belmopan, Belize
PH# 08-22598/20736 Fax# 08-20952 I hope these are the new Ph#'s.
We just told them our name and they gave us the information sheet with our taxes on it. If you are new, give them anything that you feel they would need, they are very good at finding your parcel so the tax can be paid.
ALSO..... on the bottom of our form it says.. Note: Taxes are due on April 1st. Any outstanding amounts after April 30th are charged @ 1% per month. There are only 7 places that the taxes can be paid. 1. Belmopan 2. Belize City 3. Corozol Town 4. Orange Walk Town 5. Dangriga 6. Punta Gorda 7. San Ignacio I'm sure they will be able to assist you with which place to mail your taxes, after you have received the form. Good Luck, we've never had any problem.
If your property is located on Ambergris Caye, South of Robles Point, then you must pay your annual property taxes at the Town Board offices in San Pedro.
You should present the Town Clerk with a copy of your deed, and give them your name and mailing address. Without that being done the bill will go to the old owners. You may wish to call the Town Board for more information.
Thanks again; we'll probably try to send them, but my husband has just planned a brief trip in March since there are some good deals on fares. We're both coming at Easter, but that would be past the due date. Again, thanks for the great info.
