What is the cheapest way to phone the USA from San Pedro? And from USA to San Pedro? One of the things I have always enjoyed in Belize is no phone calls, but now I am going to have to be available occassionally. Cell phone? Have I lost my mind? Don't answer that. Thanks Indygal

One cheap way is Sam's Club AT&T phone cards. Cards say 3.47 cents/minute for use in US; costs approximately 25 cents/minute to call from US to Belize and costs approximatley 35 cents/minute to call from Belize to US. For the latter, when in Belize dial 115 for Belize operator, ask for AT&T Direct and then follow the numbers on the Sam's Club card; do NOT dial "1" for the calling card number nor your US number once in the AT&T Direct system. You can recharge the AT&T card from Belize with a US card credit - follow menu on back of the card. US cell phones don't work in Belize.

Thanks. 25cents I can afford. It was the $3.50 a minute that MCI charged me that made me not want to ever call Belize again.

I went to our local Sam's to look for the $3.47 card and they only had $2.50 which state in little print, for use in US only.

The card you purchase in Belize seems reasonable. You might check it out, don't know the minute rate, though.

And Marie does it yet again... please don't offer information that is incomplete or wrong! Better to just let someone else answer.

Sam's club has a couple of different AT&T cards. Read the fine print or go the the AT&T website in order to purchase the correct one. I have used them several times and they are by far cheaper.
