Any bartending jobs ever open up on belize for a couple expatriates? Eventually we hope to have someone who is interested back us in a beach bar venture. We have a great business plan and have always been successful in the states.

Unless you own your own place the bartending jobs are for Belizeans IN San Pedro ON Ambergris Caye IN Belize

Ambergris Caye is actually the bottom of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Want to be a bartender? Bring lots of $$$ and your business plan and stand in line to get a business license and watch several other great minds go out of business in front of you.

As long as your creative business plan doesn't include a beach bar, coffee house, tea shop
"Italian,Mexican,Thai,Rasta,Chinese,Sushi,American,Belizean Restaurant", sports bar, disco, bbq joint, reggae club, multi purpose courtyard, Belikin cool spot, or internet cafe, your business plan might work.......Best of luck from someone has been there and wore out the t-shirt.

As Frank Sinatra sang, "Put Your Dreams Away For Another Day". But, go and check Belize out anyway.

fx........BZ is a great place, but the window of opportunity for great investment potential has past. The Old Time expat business prospectors and local families have the inside info and political ties that are necessary to survive. I left 10 years ago after 4 great years on the mainland and AC. Wouldn't trade the experience and friendships for anything. .........Be Cool..... Gibby

Gibby is right on. You can't just come and take an open job as a forienger. I too have seen very intelligent people come down to start a business and crawl home broke quite quickly. It's a young country and a bit like the old west. You must be connected, and even that can turn out to be a charade. Also, you must have the respect of the locals. That has to be earned. I think it's best to come and hang for a year or so and get the feel of the environment first, then think about starting a business. The US has rules that are a bit more clear cut. In Belize you need more savvy, and understanding of human nature.

A Dallas Dave Sighting!!! Greetings from on top of Ole Smoky. "Cause Smoky likes it that way." Whats up brother? Hows the Lone Star experience.? The Smoky Mountains are busy as ever, been doing 10 shows a week and I'm pretending Budweiser tastes like Belikin.
