Hello everyone!

I am a new message board member dreaming of joining the growing number of ex-pats. enjoying life in their slice of paradise.

I have lived in Canada over 30 years and have been dreaming about swaying palms, the sun and the surf for probably just as long.

Any suggestions/recommendations on getting my feet wet in Ambergris would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to your replies.

My suggestion is that you head on down and spend a little vacation time there. Then you can get your feet wet and make a more informed decision.

Visit for a couple weeks.

Thank you for your reply Seashell and Indygal...
That would appear to be the most logical approach. Hope to meet up with some of you when getting my feet wet strolling Ambergris' beaches.

Driven through there more than a few hundred times. Used to play golf at Castlemore Golf and Country club a couple of times each year as well.

Thanks SimonB...
Guess not being much of a Golfer would explain why I have no clue where Castlemore is...
I do get out to the odd par three once in a while though. Any golf on Ambergris?

Yep, true Simon,
The gold course is cross the road.
Question: if hadn't been Belize, which caribean place would you move to ?

thanks

Idea: try and visit in a manner similar to how you will live. IOW, if you don't want to pay to live beachfront, don't stay in beachfront property. Only eat out as often as you would if you lived here. Try not to get daily maid service if you won't have it later. That sorta thing.
