Just a question I've been wondering about. We are traveling in a couple of weeks to Belize. I understand the safety is good there as long as you use regular precautions like you would any place. We are traveling this time with the kids. Is there anything that you would suggest that we bring with us as far as First Aid type items. We are planning on bring Deet Spray for the Mosquitos. Is the month of July very bad for sand fleas & mosquitos? I'm not real worried about the bugs as far as that goes. Just curious as to what we should be prepared for. We are going to be doing snorkeling and traveling thruout the country. We only have 2 weeks. If one of the kids were to get hurt what is the medical facilities like in the Country of Belize? I'm sure we will all be just fine, but just been wondering about medical if a person ever needed to have it for the unexpected and needed and what type of facilities the country has? We are so excited about the area and the people. Appreciate any comments that you might have or can suggest. Looking forward to our trip. smile

You sound like relaxed parents and that is a great way to start the adventure.
For the kids - benedryl so if they get itchy you can give them something to relieve their distress - sunscreen for sure - band-aids if they get a cut - tote along some gator-aide maybe if they are kids who get hot and dehydrates and forget to drink water.
Here is a strange first-aid tip, but one that I've seen a couple of parents apply over the years --- if your child has the unlikely instance of touching a man-o-war ........ apply human urine to the rash - pain should go away very quickly - the amonia is the magic ingredient.
Doctors in Belize are great with kids.

If the kids need medical attention while in San Pedro go to the Ambergris Hope Clinic and see Dr's Dan and Tina.
Bring along some first aid items like band aids, nail clippers, tweezers, antibiotics.
The worst our kids have ever had was a minor flu bug and a few splinters and a bad toenail from tearing around the beach barefoot.
