Scheduled power outage this AM- from 7 to 11 for all south of Tropic Air. At least we got a warning this time.

Thanks for the warning. Saturdays seem to be a bad day for power on the island. Gonna go hop in the shower while the water is still hot. Wonder if that is 7 am island time? Probably more like 11 am island time.

Well, I wonder what the deal is???? Got the SP Daily out early, shut everything down and went to Estelles for breakfast. Just got back home to find that the power hasn't gone off. Too much rain last night? Workers didn't show up? Hmmmm...

Most likely the problem lies with the operative word, "scheduled" Too much planning can be a bad thing!

hey just wondering... i know the power outages can be bad sometimes but i also remember the water not working either sometimes! locals say that doesn't happen very often but i'm wondering if anyone here knows what "not very often" is?!?!

My understanding is that there is a generator at the water plant that will last for a brief period of time, but after that there is no electricity to pump water, then there is no water. Those of us who have cisterns and/or wells rely on electric pumps to bring the water up to the system. With no electricity there's no pump, therefore, no water....someone correct me if this is wrong, but it seems to work out that way.

sometimes the water "goes out" where you are staying because the well might run dry. this happened my first stay at Lilly's in march.
also, sometimes, if they are working on a leak or there is a problem at the water plant, you will lose water.

what i want to know is, why does the damn power keep going out this week! i would normally care cause i'm sleepin, but damn, the fan goes off, and then i'm hot and i wake up! this power outage stuff is ruinin my beauty sleep!

oh well, suppose i'll have to catch up with a nap in a hammock on the palapa smile
