What's the difference? I can see they are both small and CC is smaller. I could also see CC is cheaper. Is their better beaches on CC than AC? Are the people nicer?

Hey Wolfy, It all depends on what you are looking for as a vacation spot. Neither place has a beach in the classic sense that you may be thinking. The close proximity of the reef prevents the scouring action of waves. If you need water thrills and 24/7 adrenaline rushes, dancing, and torches and human sacrifices, than you'ld be better off on AC. If you want pleasant smiles, slow sunrises, slower breakfast, and warm trade winds challenging the thermal differences of your Belikin and your parched lips. Then CC is your Port of Call. I have stayed at both and to me there isn't a choice, but then again I might be slightly biased.

I have to agree with Bonestalker, my wife and I love CC the island is so laid back and the people are great. We went to AC and only stayed one day then went back to CC.

I lived on Ambergris Caye, beachfront, San Pedro town for a year but then moved to Caye Caulker late last year. What a difference indeed! San Pedro has too much of everything. Too many people, too many cars, too high of prices, too many hustlers, too many condos, too too too much! Caye Caulker has the laid back lifestyle and slow pace that Belize is known for, and San Pedro has lost it.

Why not come to Caye Caulker and book a room only for the first couple nights, take a day trip over to San Pedro - the Hol Chan Snorkel Trip stops in San Pedro for lunch - and then decide if you want to spend the rest of your vacation there.

If not, Caye Caulker would still have room for you. Don't cancel your room in CC till you are positive you want to head for SP.

As for me - I'm born and bred Caye Caulker girl - there is no choice for me either....though I do enjoy going over to San Pedro for a night out or a luncheon.

The water taxi schedule allows the day trip to San Pedro and back by afternoon. On special occassions a local boat with enough island folks who want a different flavour head for San Pedro about 8:30 PM on a Saturday night and head back to CC (about 2-3 AM) to sleep and wake up in beautiful CC and home.

Cheers,

Hey Wolfy:

I'd be glad to book you accommodations either on Caye Caulker or San Pedro. My preference is Caye Caulker. However, I can find you accommodations anywhere.

If I can be of assistance to you, please e-mail me at [email protected]

Cheers,
Wendy A.
