Hello! I am an airline employee, and naturally love to travel, and I have heard so much about Caye Caulker that I think I will be planning my next big trip there, in May. It looks gorgeous, laid back and very economical! What's it like in mid may?, and it seems like water taxi is the cheapest way to get there from Belize city, is this as easy as it is cheap?, or is flying a better way? Thanks!!

Greetings Texas Princess from the Mayan Princess!

Your trip is what you make of it. The weather is usually good at that time of the year. It might get a little too hot some days, and its just short of the start of the rainy season. There is always plenty to do with the Barrier Reef at our footsteps. Sail trips with Jimmy, fishing trips with Harry from Oceanside, exploring days to other islands, relaxing at the split, plenty to do and not much to do if thats what you like.

Don't expect any shopping extravaganza if that is the kind of thing a Texas Princess likes to do, forget the rolex & jewellery, the fancy dress and rather bring the hiking boots, the fins & sarong, the wide brim straw hat, lots of sunscreen & maybe some repellent...

The water taxi is the cheapest way to get to the island at $7.50 usd and leaves the terminal at 9:00, 10:30am, 12:00 noon, 1:30pm, 3:00pm & 5:00pm.

Come Enjoy.

Thanks for the insight..I definitely dont plan on this being a shopping trip, except for maybe a souvenir or two. I want sun, beach, calm waters, snorkeling and just to hang out eat and drink and relax. Is it pretty easy to get around? is everything within walking distance of everything else pretty much? I havent decided where to stay yet, any suggestions? im looking 40-60 usd per night with private batheroom. Also, is it easy to snorkel right off the island without having to take a boat out? Thanks for all the info! Im sure I will finalize my plans soon and be there 2nd week in May!

You'll be able to brouse some cute little souvenir shops, lots of neat things to choose from to find a great keepsake. Everything is in walking distance. You can also snorkal at a place called the split, you'll see lots of colourful fish. There is also a outdoor pub there, right at the waters edge to have a cold one while you soak up the sun. Enjoy!
