#216269 - 06/09/02 09:38 PM Travel from Guate

Does anyone have a recommendation for travel from Guatemala City to Caye Caulker? There appear to be several options (land vs. air, Guate vs. Flores, etc.). Any estimates on roundtrip airfare from Guate? I'm guessing (and hoping) that I'll find cheaper flights once I arrive in Guatemala. I'm willing to travel overland, but would obviously prefer to spend the extra day or so on the beach (if the price isn't too expensive).
Thanks in advance!

I flew to Flores from Guatemala City on Aviateca. Took a side trip to Tikal. Continued on via Tropic Air to Belize.

You could also get on TACA in Guatemala City and go through San Salvador into Belize.

Neither of these methods are inexpensive but they are much faster than overland.

I agree with the suggestion of going to Tikal in Flores as you'll be in Guatemala already.

Sure enough you can fly from Flores to Caye Caulker via the Belize Int'l Airport on Tropic Air or Maya Island Air.

Flores to Belize Int'l cost US$ 88/person

Belize Int'l to Caye Caulker cos about
US$47 / person.
