I hope the season is picking up for you all. When i was on CC about two weeks ago, i noticed a fare amount of trash around. Caye Caulker is a beautiful place and would be even more beautiful without the trash along the roads. Perhaps this would be a good school project for the kids...picking up the trash. I know some time ago the gringo's got together and picked up some. But this would be a good learning experience for the kids. And then they would be less inclined to throw stuff on the ground. Just a thought.

Best regards for CC and it's People,

Capt. Bill

I always thought that when I lived there. Also the kids would learn to take care of their island. Then they might do it as adults too. I know a lot of people do clean, but I think the kids should learn how.

Good idea, Bill. The schoolteachers agree with you and there is always a gang of kids involved in every clean up.
One funny bit. At the end of one clean up Ms.Arceo came and handed out cold water in small plastic bags for the kids. They tossed them right down!
We explained why that was a bad idea. We all had to go back and pick them up again. Big enthousisam to do so. They loved being a part of things. Some threw them down again so we could go pick up the street again.

That was meant to be an amusing story -not a political endorsement. Part of the idea was the water bags added to the problem rather than helping.
You guys getting buried in politics. Is there an election coming up or something?

No, Keycocker It is just that fact that sometimes you feel that you are the almighty in regards to Caye Caulker. Pretty much sure the entire village feels like this.....

If I have offended you by answering some questions and telling some stories then sorry for that. I thought that was the whole idea with message boards.

Good suggstion Capt. Bill. Trash is a big problem on this little island. I regularly rake in front of my business and beside it, and every day, there is more trash out there. The village council did a trash recepticle project a couple of months ago, and that helped a lot. But, once the trash is picked up... where does it go? To the dump, which is located on the back side of the island, right next to the water. The problem is more than just trash on the ground, its all of us using too many throw away containers, plastic cups, plastic bags, plastic diapers, the list goes on and on. Something as simple as using your own mug to get take-away coffee every day will result in 365 less styrofoam cups PER PERSON in the dump each year.
