saw a post recently that described a resort as being on the "wrong side", aka the leeward side...western side. this confuses me...isn't everything within easy walking distance anyway? and isn't the split close by? and isn't the leeward side the quiet side? how can it be wrong? thanks, we will be visiting next week 4/14 thru 4/19. can't wait! thanks again.....

The resort in question is a few hundred feet from the "right side" That is as wide as the island is at that point.
Tiny islands equals petty nonsense. Your take on the place is correct.

Agree. The resort is great. Nothing "wrong" about it.

Ok guys,

Thought I deleted this thread so we can keep the peace.....lets try to let sleeping dogs lie.

If this new thread serves as a 'seed' to more 'petty stuff' it will have to go too.

Cheers,

I agree with you Mermaid but sometimes people can't keep their personal vendettas at bay. May you should consider taking away thier rights.

but how could that be done? only if participants were required to register. i don't know why the people who run this board don't require this but i think it would minimize a lot of the problems that have been encountered in the past. if not than the same old same old.

noh tru you come across like a dictator wanting to take peoples rights away. the truth is that most people prefer to stay on the east side of the island. its the most popular side. most people stay on the other side if they dont have somewhere to stay on the east side. there are plenty of nice east side properties to choose from and the prices are quite reasonable. i suppose you will find out for yourself once you get here.

i learned long ago that "most popular" is not the only way to go. usually the opposite. i'll take my chances with the beautiful resort a stones throw from the most popular in a quieter place. after all, isn't vacation about relaxation away from the crouded areas?. if i want to see the most popular i'll simply stop by while taking a stroll around the island. thanks to all for your responses, see you soon!

we just returned from caye caulker and stayed 5 nights on the west/leeward side, aka the "wrong side".

it's only the wrong side if you don't like to see the beautiful sunsets. only the wrong side if you prefer the dust and hustle-bustle of front street. only the wrong side if you mind the casual 2 minute stroll to front street. only the wrong side if you prefer noise to peaceful quiet on a private resort.

we are SO THANKFUL we stayed on the leeward side. our resort was georgeous, private, quiet and very clean. when we go back we plan to stay at the same resort, aka the "wrong side".

feel free to email me if you'd like more specific info.
