I'm researching Belize for a possible family trip in March (14-year old daughter). So, if we use CC as a base, we have snorkeling, fishing, scuba, Mayan ruins, and exotic wildlife all within a 2-hour travel period??? To go from CC to the mainland exploring, is that a full day? Can my wife and daughter travel to the archaeological sites safely if I were to stay behind and fish??? sounds like an easy sell for me... thanks for any help

Caye Caulker is an excellent destination for a family and serves as a good base for adventures.

A water taxi to Belize City (mainland / Hub) takes 45 minutes. Once here, the day tours can be half-day or full day tours, depending on where you are going.

Usually a trip via the mainland starts at: 6:30 AM (first water taxi), pick up is between 7:30 - 8:00 AM and drop off is usually in time for the 3 or 4:30 PM water taxi back to the island.

Your family would be safe on any of these tours, if they decided to leave you behind on the caye.
