Hello, I am looking for help in deciding where to stay on my vacation to belize.
I was first looking at Ambergris Caye but they dont seem to have very nice beaches. So now I am turning to Caye Caulker. Are there nice beaches here? How about snorkeling form shore? I am also looking for a place to stay that has nice Ammenities. I will be returning from a 2 month research project in the jungle of Belize so I will welcome a TV and air conditong and all of the other amenities. Any information is welcome, and If you have any hotel or rental recomendations please let me know. Thanks Dennis

Caye Caulker doesn't have any 'nicer' beach than does Ambergris Caye, per say.... At least nothing like Can Cun or Miami Beach.

But hey, if that is what you are looking for, then why come to Belize, right?

The whole island of Caye Caulker is sand - like Ambergris Caye - and we are not as populated, which allows more 'beach' space, so to speak. But really, most people hang out at the Split for swimming, snorkeling and sunbathing - at least those who don't have accommodations with these facilities ( like a dock or deck, or tanning area.

As far as accommodations are concerned, it varies according to amenities.

You have Iguana Reef Inn, Caye Caulker Condos, Diane's Beach House, Auxillou Suites, Lazy Iguana Bed & Breakfast on the 'higher end' of things. Some with the full works like Full Kitchen, Living Room Cable TV, A/C etc.

And then you have the mid-range to lower end. Check out: www.gocayecaulker.com for a listing of accommodations on the island.

I agree. We visited Caye Caulker twice during our travels in Belize and Guatamala in late Oct. and early November. We stayed in two place on CC one of which waqs De Real Macaw.
There are lots of nice places to stay on the island but the graciousness and helpfulness of Jess and Peter was outstanding. The accomodations, and there amenities, views and location is outstanding.
As I drained the last of their cistern's rainwater from my Nagene bottle, landing back in Seattle, I mentally confirmed the dates we will return!
If you do go to Caye Caulker I also recommend going to Chocolates and go on one of his Mantee/snorkling trips. His noble ecological quest to save Mantees need all the support and publicity possible!
Bring sheets and other medical supplies to donate to the clinic will also be very much appreciated.
Oh ya, enjoy a cold one at the split, happy hour starts at 7 PM
Enjoy!!!
