Gee! This is a dull board. Anything exciting happening on the island? How about a detailed update on the airstrip, are they using the equipment or is it just sitting there? How was the Lobster fest? Any photos?

See you soon!

The airstrip has been leveled, graded, and widened by the Belize government's Dpeartment of Works. The paving poriton is being awarded to a private contractor and has not begun yet. The airstrip as is, unpaved, is in better shape now than when it was paved and several private planes have landed on it, although Tropic Air and Maya Island will not resume service until it is paved.

Phase 2 of the airstrip project will be starting next week and is the paving portion. The airstrip will not be lengthened to the east, but has been widened by 5 feet. They expect to have the airstrip completed by October.
