You can take a very expensive tour thru the cruise ship that will cost you $75-100 U.S., or you can go on your own for $17.50 U.S. round trip by taking the Caye Caulker Water Taxi from the Marine Terminal. Its located about 2-3 blocks (turn left and stay left) from the tourist village where you will be tendered to when your ship arrives in Belize City. Boats for Caye Caulker leave about every 1-1/2 hours starting at 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10:30, noon, 1:30, 3, 4:30 and 5:30 they return to Belize City on a similar schedule at 6:30, 7:30, 8:30, 10 a.m., noon, 1:30, 3:00, 4 and 5, The 5 p.m. boat goes only on weekends and holidays. When you arrive in Belize City, as you exit the Tourist Village, you can ask anyone for directions, or take a 5 minute cab ride. Contray to what you will read and be told by your cruise line, Belize City isn't all that bad, and the cab drivers all belong to local associations and make great impromptu unofficial tour guides. Just negotiate your fare before getting into the vehicle.
