My wife and I have tickets in hand for August, I love the water and am former collegiate swimmer/beach lifeguard and feel comfy in the ocean while certainly respecting it. When we sign up for tours often they take you out and dump you with 100 other tourist and in the process scare away alot of the good marine life. I feel comfy diving deep, I have a nice digital underwater camera and hope to use it. Any suggestions? Is it possible to do a whale shark tour in August? Cost? I really appreciate any help that can be given, it sounds like CC is an amazing place with great people.

Use logic and historical context please

Your snorkel trip departing from CC shouldn't have more than fifteen or so people on board. Its hard to make a guess as to how many boats/snorkelers would be at any particular spot, however. This could vary by day and by hour.

Whale sharks are usually found in the Placencia / Silk Cayes area. The prime time for whale sharks is usually Mar - June. If you google "whale sharks" you might find more information, however.

Thanks and cheers,

Check which days there are no cruise ships in BC, and go then. You can go with Ragamuffin, Carlos, Ras Creek, and a couple of others. All are great trips.

Thanks, I did some searching and see your point. It was very helpful, are there specific hotels that can help you see some Manatee's then? Is one side of the Caye better snorkeling from the beach than the other? I get up at 6:00, hit the water, eat breakfast and then will take the tour, come home and go in at the beach again. What areas are the best? Sorry about all the questions, the guidebooks dont give info like the locals can!
