My family, me, husband and 3 y.o. son will be on CC from Sept 7 til the 10th. Want some recommendations of places to stay. Would like nice view and proximity to clear blue waters. Would prefer to be under $80US/night. AC unless fans during this time of year would make rooms comfortable to sleep, would prefer private shower.

thanks
docniss

You should be able to have your pick of places as it will be slow season. I am suprised you have had no more responses. Costa Maya Cabanas is nice, $45 a night and near that cool swimming spot for you child check it out. You can enter Tsunami Caye Caulker, or Costa Maya Caye Caulker and find it that way or site below....... http://www.tsunamiadventures.com/costa%20maya.htm

We've got several pictures of Caye Caulker on our family web site. If you're interested, try www.alandsuejohnson.com

You can find them under trip reports or trip pictures.

Now you all respond...Thanks for the info. I have made reservations at Maxhapan. Was recommended from folks on belizeforum.com.

Any feedback on Maxhapan?
BTW I am aware that Maxhapan is not directly on the water.

By what I have read, I think Caulker will be the perfect place to end our first trip in Belize.

I would like to surprise the husband and little guy with a fishing excursion one day, maybe not even a full day as the sun dircetly off the water may be a little much for the son. Any recommendations on a guide that may have some form of canopy on their boat/skiff? BTW what is a skiff?

Just checked out the websites recomended so that did answer some of the excursion q's.

Looking forward to paradise.

docniss

Agreed on Maxhappan. Beautiful grounds, clean rooms, great local management. You are right about no direct beach access, but you are NOT FAR at all.

About the fishing. There are a few great guides on the island who can take you on any type of trip (trolling, bottom/bait, fly). I suggest you look around when you get here, no real sense in trying to book beforehand because of weather et al.

Most/All of the fishing boats are not covered because fisherman generally need access to all sides of the boat while fighting a whopper fish.

Fisherman in Caye Caulker mainly work with skiffs, here is some more info:
