Marty wanted me to leave a few words about the chat, so here I am!...
The chat system uses the
IRC protocol (Internet Relay Chat) which is one of the oldest/most established chat services on the internet. Theres a lot of advanced mumbo jumbo that most of you don't care about so i'll try to not include too much of that
...
I own the network in which the chat is hosted on, you can find more information about it
here if you'd like. It's a rather small network, with standard channel/nickname services (which again is for the advanced users only so I'll leave that behind).
Using the chat is as simple as clicking the "Chat" link in the header (between "My Stuff" and "User List"). If the chat will not load it likely means that you don't have a Java Virtual Machine installed, you can get this for free at
www.java.com.For the time being I'll be in the chat if you'd like to stop in, it should however be noted that by accessing the server you agree to the server rules, which are listed in the "status" section of the chat when you connect to the server.
For the advanced users who would like to use their own chat client, you can connect to the server with the following information:
Host: irc.undergroundnews.com
Port: 6667
SSL: 6666
