from a friend

I just received an email from Josh Berman who is updating the Moon
Handbooks, and he wanted to know about the existence of any recycling
programs in Belize. I remember hearing about someone doing recycling
programs with the schools.

Anybody have an info I can pass on?

San Pedro has a battery recycling program. The Chamber of Commerce would have details of that program and any other recycling program there.

There is a company at mile 81/2 (approx.) on the Western Highway that recylces paper ... it makes printer and copier paper that it sells by the ream (about $8 per ream, if I am not mistaken), and other products, as well, I believe. Galen University collects used paper, saves it, and then sells it to this company ... Recently, the ATLIB secretariat in Belize unloaded 600 pounds of old files and sold them for about $30 ... Better than burning or dumping at the atrocity of a city dump at Faber's Road.

I don't know the name of this company, nor do I have a telephone number ... perhaps someone else does?
