Happy New Year Everyone! My Husband & I are extensive travellers that like to try new places.. S.P is the only place on this planet that we have been to more then twice. April will be our third time.(we obviously like it!) Situation: Iam already looking for our next adventure somewhere in central america..(owing a business before retiring age, with a husband that feels it cant run without him(for more then 2 weeks) limits our far away vacations. Question...can anyone out there in forum cyber world tell me anything about Placienca or surrounding areas that are worth spending our 2 weeks at. (we are NOT an all inclusive type..(we like to be a part of the culture of where we are)Any imput would be great...By the way if anyone could say a big Hello to Butch at Patjos from Renee& Ralph, and let him know We expect our drinks waiting for us 04/14/07...say 2pm that would be GREAT!!!

I love Placencia, and being that far south with 2 weeks to explore could be a great adventure. The beaches there are great and trips to the cayes wonderful. Also the Whale Sharks abound in spring. A trip to PG and then Hondouras would be cool also! and then out to the mountains.

Placencia is great, Also try Maya Beach, about 8 miles from Placencia. I would suggest staying at Barnacle Bills Beach Bungalows nice place ran by nice people! As for population; Much closer to CC than Cancun.

Lots of info here www.placencia.com

Nice place, less populated than AC but more then CC. 2 weeks there would be a long time in my opinion. Try combining it with a trip inland to the jungle or S to PG area. Lots to see & do.

Punta Gorda in the Toledo district. Lovely area, unspoiled, relatively un populated, tourism just starting to take off. Caves, rivers, waterfalls, Mayan ruins, great fishing, oceanfront but not really "beachy."

Definitely not "beachy" at all.
