I just wanted to thank everyone who has posted here. I've been considering a vacation to Ambergris Caye for some time now and have decided to go for it. Many of your posts helped me to reach that decision so thank you again!!! I can't wait to see it with my own eyes! cool

LIBB, my wife and I went for the first time in November, 2005, again last November and are already planning Trip #3 for next fall. It's a magical place, with wonderful people. You will not regret it. smile

It looks absolutely amazing. Knowing myself, I'm guessing that I'll end up becoming a repeat visitor as well.

It just seems SO peaceful. That's a big part of why I decided to check it out. I've been to many islands in the Caribbean and just got back from Hawaii a few months ago. They were all beautiful but had way too much of that tourist feel to them. It seems like AC is the total opposite of that, which is exactly what I'm looking for. I'm considering staying at Mata Rocks and can already picture myself sitting at that bar on the beach and doing absolutely nothing for a week straight!!!

The nice thing is that a week feels like three - you're that relaxed! And don't be suprised if most folks say hi when you're walking down the street - locals and tourists - happens all the time.

You also have selected a very good, laid back place to stay. The bar stool on the front corner is MINE. grin

Can anyone recommend a good restaurant for a vegetarian? My wife is a little worried that she won't be able to find anything to eat. I told her that beer has no meat in it but apparently she's looking for a bit more. grin

Ali Baba's has a vegetarian plate that includes amazing tabbouleh, hummus and falafel served with warm, fresh pita bread.
