I just read an article from the fisheries dept in the Bahamas that prohibits foreign boats from harvest Conch. This has upset a group of boaters who make a pilgrimage there annually and the group is now vacationing in the Florida Keys in protest to this and other new fishing regulations imposed. Q; Is Conch a protected species in Belize?

Yes, we have a closed season. Conch season is closed from 07/01 to 09/30, no conch may be harvested or in your possession during that time.

Thet's why i prefer to go there mid June til early July, Lobster and Conch are in season and it's low season!

They seem to like the springtime best--not too hot and not too cold, crocuses in bloom and a freshness in the ai...er, water, I mean.;)

Seriously, it usually ends right before I get there and starts up a day after I leave. Don't go with me.
