I do plan on doing Hol Chan at night sometime in the future. We have night snorkeled in Bonaire a few times, and it is a hoot. Don't need any external lighting if you have somewhat of a moon out. The hand lights are just for zeroing in on anything you want to look at. Your eyes will adapt to the darkness and you can, surprisingly, see for quite a ways around you (depending on the overall clarity of the water). It is a somewhat eery and yet exhilerating experience.

Just ask your resort to find Lil' Alphonse for you. Everybody knows him and he's without par as a snorkel guide. Mexico Rocks, does. Be sure to get there. And see if he can get you to Shark Ray Alley when very few boats are there. He's got some cool turtle friends he can show you, but he doesn't like to call on them when it's crowded.

Night diving is awesome, but I've never seen anyone guiding snorkelers at night...although I bet if you asked, it could happen.

I was going to get a life, but this was easier.

Best Snorkle guide of the island?

How about a marine biologist that has lived on the island for 27 years? Want to dive in his front yard? LOL

Its not easy to get to Greg's place, but if you can work it out, it was one of the best dives I have made in my 30 years of diving.

pm me, I have some ideas on how to get there and make a day out of it.

You can also read my trip report for more information.
